Rev. Eric Ash

The Reverend Doctor Eric D. Ash, Sr., was ordained into the ministry of Word and sacrament in 1989 and has served as the Pastor of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church since June 2012. Previously he has served Lutheran parishes in Springfield, Virginia, and in York and Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Pastor Ash has held a number of offices and volunteered in various capacities (such as Chaplain, Dean, Secretary, etc.) in local, regional and national church and community organizations. His education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland (1981), a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (1989), and a Doctor of Ministry from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (2001). He went through the Colloquy process and was received in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in October 2011. Prior to entering seminary, Pastor Ash was a Medical Technologist at the Baltimore Cancer Research Center. Pastor Ash has had special training as a Stephen Ministry Leader and in Parliamentary Procedure, becoming a Certified Parliamentarian in 2004. In addition to his pastoral duties at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, he also currently volunteers as a Chaplain at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver, PA, and is the President of the Blackhawk Area Meals on Wheels. Pastor Ash is passionate about liturgy and preaching. He also enjoys reading (Buechner, Keillor, Lucado, Veith, etc.), and working out at the gym. His favorite types of music are Classical and Classic Rock. Pastor Ash and his wife Melanie are natives of Baltimore. He roots for the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Orioles. Pastor and Melanie live on College Hill in Beaver Falls. They have two adult children, a dog and two adorable cats.
